Pfizer's product Viagra is the brand name for Sildenafil citrate, which treats erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It was designed to aid in lowering blood pressure but is now used mainly as treatment for erectile dysfunction. It is sold under the brand name Revatio.

How does Viagra work?

Viagra 100mg relaxes the muscles found in the blood vessels of specific parts of the body. It also increases the blood flow to the penis so that a man can get and hold on to an erection when sexually aroused.

How to take this medication:

Take this medication just as the doctor ordered. Follow all the instructions on the pack and do not prolong this or change the dosage or amounts without consulting your doctor. You should take it only when required, i.e. about a minimum of an hour to a maximum of four hours prior to sexual activity. Do not exceed taking it more than once a day. By taking this pill, men can have an erection when sexually stimulated. They will not enjoy an erection by just taking this pill. Store Viagra at room temperature, far away from heat and humidity.

Side-effects:

During sexual activity, men can experience dizziness, nausea, pain, tingling in the neck, jaw, arms or chest, or have headaches, sensitivity to light, impaired vision, damaged optic nerve, nasal congestion and indigestion. In such cases, they must call their doctors right away.

Serious side-effects include heart attack, a painful and prolonged erection, loss of hearing, ventricular arrhythmias and increased intraocular pressure.

Who should not take Viagra:

Those who should refrain from taking Viagra include:
Men on organic nitrites, nitrates or nitric oxide donors
Men medically advised to keep off sex due to heart problems
Those suffering with liver damage, renal problems or low blood pressure
Men who have had a stroke or heart attack recently
